Insurance is the topic nobody wants to think about — until something happens. We require active coverage on every rental because it protects everyone. Here is a plain-English breakdown of every option.
Option 1: MBA Commercial Insurance
MBA is our primary insurance provider and the most popular choice. For driveable motorhomes, MBA commercial coverage is automatically included at $25/day — you do not have to do anything. For towable trailers, you submit the MBA Trailer Form and pay $12-25/day directly to MBA.
MBA does NOT cover awnings or tires -- regardless of cause. Any awning or tire damage is the renter's financial responsibility.
Option 2: Your Own Auto or RV Policy
Some renters have personal auto policies that extend to rental RVs. You can use your own policy if it provides liability coverage adequate for the unit value and your state requires. You must provide proof of coverage before your trip starts.
Option 3: The Stress Free Shield (ADW)
The Shield is NOT insurance. It is an Accidental Damage Waiver — specifically for interior accidental damage on stationary delivery rentals. If something inside the RV gets accidentally damaged during your trip, the Shield covers it up to $2,500 after a $250 deductible, with a $25/day cap at $199 maximum. Great peace of mind add-on for families with kids.
Security Deposit
All rentals require a $1,500 authorization hold placed on your card at trip start. This is a hold, not a charge. It is automatically released 5 days after your trip ends unless there are post-trip expenses to apply against it.
The Bottom Line
- Driveables: MBA is included automatically at $25/day
- Towables: Submit the MBA Trailer form and pay $12-25/day to MBA directly
- Own policy: Acceptable if it covers rental liability
- Add the Shield for interior damage peace of mind ($25/day)
- $1,500 hold at trip start, auto-released 5 days after return
