The Glamis Halloween RV Guide
Halloween weekend is the biggest weekend of the year at the Imperial Sand Dunes. It is dry camping on public land — no hookups, no services — so the RV you bring is your power, water and base camp.
The rules
- Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area permits are required from October 1 through April 15 (weekly or season permits; buying in advance costs less than on site).Source: BLM El Centro Field Office
- Camping is dry (boondocking): no water, sewer or power hookups. Bring all water in and haul all waste out.Source: BLM
- Holiday weekends draw very large crowds; arrive early to claim space for a group camp.Source: SFR experience

Questions
Can I rent an RV or toy hauler for Glamis Halloween?
Yes. Stress Free RVs rents self-contained RVs and toy hauler trailers for Glamis. You can pick up in El Cajon, or we deliver and set up your camp and pick it up after the weekend.
Do I need a permit to camp at Glamis?
Yes. The BLM requires an Imperial Sand Dunes permit from October 1 through April 15. Buy it in advance — it costs less than buying on site.
Are there hookups at Glamis?
No. Glamis is dry camping on public land. Our units arrive with full fresh water and empty tanks, and a generator for power.
Can you set up a group camp for several RVs?
Yes. Groups of 3 or more units get coordinated delivery, one contact and one invoice. Request a group quote and tell us how many people and sand toys you are bringing.
